National Inclusion Week (NIW) is dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces. This is a theme that’s close to our hearts as we continue to strive for inclusive communication in all that we do. This year’s theme ‘Impact Matters’ aims to highlight the importance of ‘understanding, identifying and measuring impact on marginalised groups and taking actions that make for genuine, sustainable change that matters.’ At The Advocacy Project, our mission is to to enable people to have their voice heard, uphold their rights and make choices. This means that inclusivity and equality of access to information is at the very core of our work.
We strive to make adjustments to accommodate many different ways of learning and communicating so that everyone can be fully involved in decisions affecting their future. This applies as much internally, as well as forming the foundations of our external delivery relating to health and social care – our projects exist to help people speak up and have influence over their health, wellbeing, and social care services.
We’re proud that our staff are committed to our vision and mission – a commitment to improving the lives of the people we work with is demonstrated by all staff in every department within the charity, not just the front line. Nothing highlights this more than this feedback about a member of our finance team we received from a member of our service user council:
“Working together with Loretta she was able to put things right for my payments. I now have a much more improved life thanks to Loretta.
Loretta is exceptionally kind, caring, compassionate and a great listener. She is incredibly easy to warm to and connect with.
She was born to do this job and I am very lucky to have received her kind help and support.
If you are fortunate enough to meet and work with Loretta she will leave a lasting impression on you, a truly wonderful lady. Thank you very much for everything and god bless you.
Thank you again for everything.”
